Please share some of your favorite SJC memories - on and off the field:

Well as everyone knows the baseball team is the largest team on campus so there are many memories to be had. But there are a few that come to mind that stand out. One being on the Florida trip freshmen year, while during stretching Basketball Coach Rob Sanicola (statistician for the trip) walked around with a whoopee cushion underneath his windbreaker "relieving himself" as we got ready for one of our nine games down in Florida. I would say my best memory at St. Joe’s was earning the first NCAA regional birth in program history my sophomore year.

Notable performances as an SJC athlete (records, championships, individual accolades):

Monks first NCAA regional birth in program history in 2006, followed by two more in 2007 and 2008. Baseball from start to finish is a very short season, especially in Maine, so having a great group of athletes and coaches made playing baseball at St. Joe’s an unforgettable experience. Every chance I get to give back to the coaching staff and current team members I do, because that’s what was done for me during my four years as a player.

Where are you employed? Please tell us your job title, duties, how long you've been there, etc.:

After graduation I took a job offer in New Hampshire with the double AA affiliate of the MLB Toronto Blue Jays as the Assistant Turf Manager of the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Most people don’t realize how much actually goes into maintaining a baseball field of this caliber or any caliber at that. During my three seasons (2008-10) with the Fisher Cats I would put in a 100+ hour work week when the team was in town and a 60-70 hour work week when the team was out of town. Although it felt like I never left the ballpark it was a great experience for me at the time and getting my f

oot in the door there led to another opportunity down the road just a little further south. I currently work for the Parks and Recreation Department in Medfield Massachusetts where I maintain over 30 acres of athletic fields in the spring /summer/fall and in the winter I spend coaching sports classes for the recreation department. I also instruct at the local Frozen Ropes baseball training facility in Natick MA.

What do you do for fun?

When I have spare time I enjoy volunteering at Medfield High School as an assistant baseball coach/ pitching machine, playing in one of the three amateur baseball leagues here in the Boston area, and my most recent hobby of home brewing, very similar to the Prohibition Era. I am also a very frequent viewer of GOMONKS.com, often checking up on the baseball team and upcoming games and events.
