BOSTON, MASS. -- The College Division team (Div. II & III All-Stars) stopped a two-game losing streak in the New England College Baseball All-Star Game with a 2-0 victory against the University Division (Div. I All-Stars) on Sunday night at Fenway Park.

Bentley College shortstop Steve Gath (Reading, MA) tripled to lead off the sixth and scored on a sacrifice fly by Tufts second baseman Brian Casey (Milford, MA). Wheaton College senior catcher Adam LaPlante (Harwich, MA) then blasted a home run into the Monster seats in the seventh for a 2-0 College Division lead. Those were the only two College Division hits in the game.

Seven College Division pitchers combined to shut out the University team on four hits. Saint Joseph's pitcher Sam Tupper (Yarmouth, ME) earned the win and Franklin Pierce College's Tyler Bishop (Milford, NH) picked up a save. The University team had only one runner reach third base when Brown shortstop Matt Nuzzo (Everett, MA) led off the second with a double and moved to third on a ground ball. Nuzzo finished with two hits and a stolen base.

Gath was named the Player of the Game, while Brown University pitcher Jeff Dietz (Altamonte Springs, FL) was Pitcher of the Game. He started for the University Division and pitched two 1-2-3 innings.

The College Division has now won three of the last five games in the series, though the University team holds a 21-10-1 lead overall.
