STANDISH, ME - Monks' right-hander Pat
Moran '10 (Winterport, ME), a frontline starting
pitcher for the Anderson Servants (7-16) of the Great Lakes
Collegiate Summer League, has been selected to participate in the
GLCSL All Star Game. Festivities will take place on July 15th at
the home field of the Cincinnati Steam.
As of July 12th, Moran leads the league with 29
strikeouts and ranks second with 30 innings pitched. He currently
is tied for the GLCSL lead in starts (5) and ranks as the Servants'
leader in earned run average (2.40).
Starting pitchers have yet to be announced for the All-Star game,
but both teams sport nine pitchers, all of whom will throw one
inning apiece.
The festivities, which are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. on
Wednesday, July 15, will be capped off with the All-Star game at
6:35 PM. Prior to the contest scouts will have the opportunity to
evaluate some of the league's top prospects in various skill
competitions. More than 30 scouts attended last year's festivities,
which showcased a talent pool that produced 41 draftees, including
three first round picks, in last month's Major League Baseball
draft.
