STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's College pitcher
Pat Moran '10 (Winterport, ME) is
spending his summer in Indiana as a member of the Anderson
Servants, a team in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League.
Moran, the 2009 GNAC Player and Pitcher of the
Year, is among the league leaders in innings pitched (24, 2nd) and
strikeouts (23, 2nd) and sports a 3.00 ERA in four appearances, all
starts, for the Servants. His record stands at 1-1. With his
success, Moran has hopes of making the All-Star
Game, which is held on July 15th in Cincinnati, OH.
Moran broke out in a big way for the Monks in
2009, leading the Royal Blue in wins (8), ERA (3.88), innings
pitched (62 2/3), strikeouts (75) and fewest walks allowed (6). He
also swung a mighty bat with 11 home runs and an .813 slugging
percentage, both team and GNAC highs. He certainly filled his
trophy case following the season, having earned GNAC First Team
All-Conference honors as both a pitcher and designated hitter,
All-NEIBA First Team, D3Baseball.com All-America Honorable Mention
and ECAC DIII Baseball Third Team honors, as well as team Most
Valuable Player and Saint Joseph's Athletics Male Athlete of the
Year accolades.
Anderson is currently toiling in ninth place in the 10 team league
with a 6-13 record. Unless a final push is made leading up to and
following the All-Star break, the Servants will complete their
36-game schedule on July 30th.
The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League is a wooden-bat summer
league that has been in operation for 29 years and is comprised of
teams from Ohio and Indiana. The GLSCL was the first summer league
to be sanctioned by the NCAA and receive funding from Major League
Baseball. Notable alumni include current New York Yankees
outfielder Nick Swisher and Seattle Mariners relief pitcher Chad
Cordero.
