Monks Insider Features Campbell at NCAA Regionals

STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's College junior shortstop Chris Campbell (Rochester, NH) will be providing daily blog submissions while the Monks participate in the NCAA DIII New England Regional Tournament this week.

Saint Joseph's, set to make the program's fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last five seasons, goes into the tourney with a 32-11 (.744) record. The Monks, 11-3 in GNAC play this season, earned the GNAC automatic qualifier into the tournament with a 5-4 victory over Suffolk in the conference championship in East Providence, RI on May 2nd.

Campbell is enjoying another solid season for the Monks, hitting .431 (59-137) with 49 runs, seven doubles and 19 RBI in 37 games this spring. He heads into the tournament needing one hit to become the second player in SJC Baseball history to notch a pair of 60-hit campaigns, as the second-year starter registered 63 hits in 2009.

St. Joe's will depart for Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, Connecticut on Tuesday and will begin play on Wednesday, opponent and start time to be announced. For the second consecutive year, Eastern Connecticut will host the regional tourney at the Mansfield Athletic Complex.
