Three Monks Earn All-New England Honors

STANDISH, ME – The New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association All-New England Division III Baseball Teams have been released and three Monks have been honored.

Junior outfielder Todd Keneborus (Hollis Center, ME/Cheverus) is a First Team selection, sophomore left-handed pitcher Sam Murray (Walpole, MA/Walpole) has received Second Team honors and senior pitcher/outfielder Pat Moran (Winterport, ME/Hampden Academy) is listed on the Third Team as a utility player.

Saint Joseph's, which is set to begin NCAA Tournament play in the New England Regional on Wednesday, will look to this talented trio to continue their outstanding individual efforts as the Monks look to contend for a regional title. Eighth-seeded St. Joe's (32-11) will take on #1 Tufts University (31-5) at 1:15 PM in Willimantic, CT on Wednesday. The winner of the double-elimination tournament, hosted by Eastern Connecticut State University and the Little East Conference, will advance to the NCAA DIII World Series at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wisconsin with the first round beginning on May 28th.

For Keneborus, the 2010 GNAC Player of the Year and All-GNAC First Team honoree, the regional honor is a career-first. In the midst of one of the finest offensive seasons in team history, he leads the Monks in virtually all offensive categories, including batting average (.456, 67-147), runs (50), hits (67), doubles (15), triples (13), RBI (61), total bases (120), slugging percentage (.816) and on-base percentage (.521). As of May 9th, Keneborus led the New England Region in triples, RBI and total bases and ranked third in slugging, fourth in batting average and sixth in hits. He set the single-season and career (19) marks for triples and is just the third player in program history to record at least 60 RBI in a season.

The regional accolade is also a first for Murray, who received GNAC First Team and Pitcher of the Year honors following the regular season. He leads the SJC pitching staff in ERA (1.77), complete games (5), shutouts (2), innings (56) and walks per nine innings (0.8), and is tied with Moran for the team-lead in wins (7). As of May 9th, Murray led the New England Region in ERA and walks per nine innings and heads into the Regional in his best form, having allowed just four runs with a 0.92 ERA in his last 39.1 innings on the hill.

Moran, a 2010 All-GNAC First Team Utility and Second Team Pitcher selection, is no stranger to post-season accolades, as the senior two-way player collected NEIBA First Team, ECAC Second Team, D3baseball.com All-American Honorable Mention as well as GNAC Pitcher and Player of the Year honors last spring. One of the finest two-way players in program history, Moran is enjoying a fine senior campaign, offensively and on the mound, as well. He enters the New England Regional hitting .321 (35-109) with 26 runs, seven doubles, a team-high eight home runs, 37 RBI and a .606 slugging percentage. On the hill, Moran is 7-1 with a 3.83 ERA and a team-best 58 strikeouts in 51.2 innings pitched.

The St. Joe's trifecta joins Johnson & Wales senior third baseman Jonathan Melendez as the only GNAC representatives on the NEIBA teams, while three players from Southern Maine, two from Husson and one from Bates joined the Monks trio to represent the State of Maine.
