BOSTON, MA - Saint Joseph's College (14-4, 9-1 GNAC) swept Suffolk University (9-12, 3-8 GNAC) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) softball action on Sunday afternoon.
Senior Maddie Kluna (Standish, Maine) only allowed five hits in a complete game shutout of the Rams in game one as the Monks were victorious 4-0. Kluna struck out seven hitters, while senior Maria Labbe (Lewiston, Maine) was 3-for-3 with three RBI to pace the Monks offensively.
Game two saw the Monks collect 12 hits as they rolled to a 13-1 victory.
Junior Heather Tripp (Lovell, Maine) had four RBI in the nightcap, while Labbe picked up a pair of RBI for the Minks who improve to 14-4 on the season and a 9-1 mark in GNAC play.
Sophomore Theresa Hendrix (Scarborough, Maine/Cheverus) struck out nine in five innings only allowing two hits, while she was a perfect 3-for-3 in the game at the plate with a pair of runs scored.
St. Joe's will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon as they travel to University of Southern Maine for a non-conference double header at 3:30pm. Suffolk will travel to Brandeis University to take on the Judges on Wednesday at 3:00pm.
