STANDISH, Maine - Saint Joseph's College has been named as a recipient of the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority and Women's Internship Grant which provides funding for entry-level administrative positions to encourage access, recruitment, selection and the long-term success of ethnic minorities and women. Through the grant funding, Megan Dunlap has been named Assistant Sports Information Director, as announced by the department Thursday.

Dunlap, who graduated from Saint Joseph's in May with a B.S. in Communications with a focus in New Media, served as a Sports Information intern - under the watch of Corey McCarthy, Assistant Athletics Director for Communication & Game Management - for the last three years. During her time in the SID office, Dunlap was primarily responsible for the Monks' social media efforts and played a major role in increasing the development of the department's Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and SnapChat accounts.

"I am thrilled to have Megan join the Saint Joseph's Athletics staff," adds McCarthy. "I enjoyed working with her in an internship capacity and look forward to seeing what she can accomplish on a full-time basis for the next two years. Megan is a well-rounded individual who has ample experience in the areas of graphic design and videography. She will undoubtedly be a tremendous addition to the athletics department."

In addition to her time in the Saint Joseph's SID Office, Dunlap also worked as a Design Intern for Portland Magazine during the summer of 2017 and completed an internship at Hot 104.7 FM, a local radio station based out of Scarborough, during the summer months in 2016. She also double-minored in Video Production and Business Administration at Saint Joseph's.

In her new role, Dunlap will serve as the coordinator of the SJC student event staff, manage the daily operation of the Monks' social media platforms, work with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C.) to help promote and execute events, and serve as a member of the Academic Athletic Working Group on campus.

Patricia Erikson, the Director of Communications & Government Relations at Saint Joseph's, will serve as Dunlap's primary mentor during the two-year stint. In this capacity, Erikson will meet with Dunlap on a regular basis and assist with her professional development.

Dunlap will begin working in the athletics office in late July after attending a two-day orientation session - along with McCarthy and Erikson - at the NCAA National Office in Indianapolis on July 26th and 27th.
