STANDISH, ME - The Great Northeast Athletic
Conference has named JR Ashton
Piers (Falmouth, ME/Deering HS) Swimmer of the
Week and FY Lindsay D'Ascanio
(Kennebunk, ME) Rookie Swimmer of the Week for the 12/17-1/13
reporting period.
Piers had three first place finishes in both of
her team's meets over break. In the University of New England meet,
Piers accounted for all three of St. Joe's first place finishes (50
breast, 100 breast, 100 IM) with New England qualifying times in
each event. In the Husson meet, Piers took firsts in all three of
her events again and was also a member of the top-finishing
200-yard medley relay team.
This is the second time that Piers has been honored by the
conference this season as she was named the Swimmer of the week on
11/19.
D'Ascanio was the top finisher in the 200-yard
freestyle, 100-yard butterfly and 50-yard butterfly events at the
Husson meet and was also a member of the first place 200-yard
medley relay team. In the University of New England meet, the
freshman swimmer earned second place finishes in both the 50 and
100-yard butterfly events with New England qualifying times in
both.
D'Ascanio has been named the GNAC Rookie Swimmer of the Week all
four reporting periods so far this season.
