SJC Swimmers Dive into New Season with a Victory Over Husson

BANGOR, ME - The Saint Joseph's Women's Swim team opened the 2009-10 season with a 140-102 victory over Husson University on Saturday. Hannah Gajewski '12 (Biddeford, ME/McAuley) won both of her individual events and also swam a leg for both of the Monks' top-finishing relay teams. St. Joe's won 8 of the 13 events overall.  

Gajewski, Amanda Lanoix '12 (Lyman, ME), Katie Brooks '10 (North Kingstown, RI) and Ashton Piers '10 (Falmouth, ME/Deering) propelled the 200-medley relay team to a slim victory over the Eagles with a 2:07.71 time in the opening event. Gajewski, Lanoix, Christine Cote '13 (Biddeford, ME) and Jamie Wojtkiewicz '12 (Bedford, NH) lifted St. Joe's to a 200-free relay win with a 1:53.25 effort.

Gajewski placed first in the 200-free, with a 2:10.40 performance, as well as the 100-breast with a 1:18.00 time. Wojtkiewicz won the 50-breast (36.67), Cote placed first in the 50-free, Rose Maccarrone '12 (Hingham, MA) led the pack in the 100-free (1:03.96) and Brooks took home a top finish in the 50-back (33.95).

St. Joe's will host Elms College at the Harold Alfond Center pool on Saturday, November 14th at 12:00 PM.
