Blazers Turn Away Monks, 149-109

STANDISH, ME - Elms College defeated Saint Joseph's, 149-109, in a women's swimming meet held at the Harold Alfond Center on Saturday. Sophomores Hannah Gajewski (Biddeford, ME/McAuley) and Jamie Wojtkiewicz (Bedford, NH) both earned a top finish and two second-place finishes in the event.

Gajewski set a program record in the 1000-Free with a 12:04.74 effort, besting the former SJC record by nearly 20 seconds. Her second-place efforts occurred in the 100-Breast (1:17.83) and 100-IM (1:07.50) events.

Wojtkiewicz placed first in the 200-Free (2:13.37) and second in the 100-Free (1:01.35) and 500-Free (6:10.14) events.

Katie Brooks '11 (North Kingstown, RI) earned a top finish in the 50-Back with a 33.70 performance and also placed second in the 100-Back (1:12.08) while Ashton Piers '10 (Falmouth, ME/Deering) placed first in the 100-Fly (1:09.58).

Christina Cote '13 (Biddeford, ME) posted a second-place effort in the 50-Free (28.56) and Rose Maccarrone '12 (Hingham, MA) turned in a 37.95 performance in the 50-Breast, which was good for a second-place finish as well.

St. Joe's will host Regis College at the Alfond Center on Saturday, November 21st at 1:00 PM.
