Avella Deemed Honor Roll Worthy

STANDISH, ME – SJC freshman swimmer Mandy Avella (Londonderry, N.H.) has collected Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Honor Roll mention.

Avella continued to impress with another solid performance in her second collegiate meet. In a loss to Elms College on Saturday, the rookie notched a pair of individual top-finishes and swam a leg for the runner-up 200-Medley relay team.

Through two NCAA meets Avella has posted four top finishes to go along with a runner-up effort. She broke the Monks' 50-Back mark with a 30.78 time and competed as a member of both of the team's top-finishing relay teams versus Husson on November 5th.

Avella garnered GNAC Rookie of the Week honors for her efforts in the win over the Eagles.

Saint Joseph's will host Regis College on Saturday in a meet slated to begin at 1:00 PM in the Harold Alfond Center Pool. The team will also host a food drive, in conjunction with the SJC Student Athlete Advisory Committee, during the meet. Fans are encouraged to give non-perishable food items with all proceeds being donated to Catherine's Cupboard, a local food pantry.
