Halvorsen Chosen as GNAC Rookie of the Week

STANDISH, ME – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been announced and Saint Joseph's College freshman Lauren Halvorsen (South Portland, Maine) has garnered Women's Swimming Rookie of the Week honors.

Halvorsen posted a pair of dominating victories in a loss to Husson University last week, as she won the 1000-Free with a 12:21.21 effort and paced the field with a 6:04.43 performance in the 500-Free on Saturday. She qualified for the NEISDA Championship with her time in the 1000-Free and also shaved over 10 seconds off her personal-best time in the event.

For Halvorsen, the conference top rookie honor is the first of her career. She has also earned GNAC Weekly Honor Roll mention on a pair of occasions this season.

Saint Joseph's will compete in the GNAC Championship at Simmons College on December 7th and 8th. The event begins with prelims at 10:30 AM on Friday, December 7th.
