Simmons Defeats Saint Joseph's, 179-74

STANDISH, ME – 2013 GNAC Women's Swimming Champion Simmons College defeated Saint Joseph's College, 179-74, in head to head action at the Harold AlfondHarold Alfond Center Pool on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore Anne Fougere (Warner, N.H.) notched a runner-up effort in the 100-Breast (1:21.60) and placed third in the 50-Breast (37.22) and freshman Danielle Charette (Westfield, Mass.) finished third in the 200-Free (2:13.33) and 500-Free (5:58.34) competitions.

Freshman Lauren Halvorsen (South Portland, Maine) placed third with a NEISDA-cut time (21:03.12) in the 1650-Free and also finished fourth in the 500-Free (6:09.89) and was fifth in the 100-Free (1:07.16) event.

First-year Erin Weir (North Andover, Mass.) also showed well with a third-place effort in the 50-Free (29.16) and fourth-place finishes in the 50-Back (34.00) and 100-Back (1:14.05) races. Sophomore Allie Krasco (Melrose, Mass.) notched a 1:13.84 time and placed third in the 100-Back.

Up next for the Monks is a double-dual meet with Babson College at Wheaton College on Saturday. The event is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM.
