Women Top Elms, Coach Felker Claims First Collegiate Victory

STANDISH, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College women's swim team defeated Elms College, 150-93, at the Harold Alfond Center Pool on Saturday afternoon. The men fell by a 116-32 score.

The women's team victory counts as a historic one for first-year Head Coach Jared Felker, as the dual meet triumph is the first of his collegiate coaching career.

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Senior Lauren Halvorsen (South Portland, Maine) won the 1000-Free (13:00.59) and 500-Free (6:21.57) events
  • Senior Lauren Prue (Glenburn, Maine) won the 100-Fly (1:17.08) and 200-Breast (2:59.70) events and placed third in the 100-IM (1:17.04)
  • Sophomore Julia Rowlett (Saco, Maine) won the 200-Back (2:32.75) and was second in the 100-Fly (1:20.13)
  • Freshman Emily Roy (Sidney, Maine) placed first in the 100-Back (1:10.96) and 50-Fly (32.79) and second in the 200-Back (2:36.03) and 200-Breast (2:59.75)
  • Freshman Alexis Coiley (Fairfield, Maine) won the 200-Free (2:15.22) and was the runner-up in the 100-Breast (1:21.99)
  • Sophomore Alicia Robinson (Gorham, Maine) placed second in the 100-Free (1:06.67) and third in the 1000-Free (14:44.45)
  • Freshman Autumn Nostrom (Lyman, Maine) finished second in the 50-Free (29.34) and 100-IM (1:16.51)
  • Junior Leia Berube (Brewer, Maine) was third in the 100-Back (1:19.90) and 50-Fly (40.51)
  • Freshman Hailey Bouyea (Lewiston, Maine) finished third in the 100-Breast (1:34.03)
  • Senior Erin Weir (North Andover, Mass.) was third in the 200-Free (2:31.70)
  • Coiley, Rowlett, Robinson and Halvorsen won the 200-Free relay with a 2:00.15 time
  • Roy, Prue, Rowlett and Robinson kicked off the day with a victory in the 400-Medley relay
  • Bouyea, Nostrom, Weir and Berube finished second in the 200-Free relay (2:10.61)

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Sophomore Stephen Quinlan (Andover, Mass.) won the 100-Fly (59.91) and posted a 2:38.61 time in the 200-Breast with a 1:04.53 effort in the 100-IM
  • Freshman Austin Bear (Hanover, Maine) placed third in the 50-Free (33.46)

Saint Joseph's will compete with University of New England at Husson University in a double-dual meet next Saturday at 12:00 PM.
