Women Pick Up Three Wins at USJ

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Saint Joseph's College competed at the University of Saint Joseph versus USJ, Albertus Magnus College, and Elms College on Saturday afternoon. The SJC women defeated USJ (129-101), Elms (126-35), and Albertus Magnus (140-43) while the St. Joe's men blanked Elms and Albertus by 39-0 scores and fell to the Blue Jays by a 147-32 margin.

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Sophomore Kiley Matthews (South Portland, Maine) won the 200-Free (2:14.92) and 50-Free (26.85)
  • Sophomore Tiffany Twombly (Sanford, Maine) was the top finisher in the 50-Breast (35.42), 100-Breast (1:18.57) and 100-IM (1:08.27)
  • Junior Brooke Podsiadlo (Granby, Mass.) placed first in the 50-Back (32.47) and 500-Free (6:05.04) events and was second in the 100-Free (1:00.41)
  • First-year Emma Westgate (Sanford, Maine) won the 100-Fly (1:40.11) and placed fourth in the 50-Fly (43.26) and seventh in the 100-Free (1:18.76)
  • Freshman Elise Soucy (Saco, Maine) won the 100-Back (1:11.44) and placed third in the 50-Back (33.76)
  • Junior Ashley Thompson (Granby, Conn.) was third in the 50-Breast (41.56) and 50-Fly (38.79) and sixth in the 100-IM (1:30.11)
  • Soucy, Thompson, Matthews and Podsiadlo won the 200-Medley relay (2:12.49)
  • Soucy, Matthews, Twombly and Westgate placed first in the 200-Free relay (2:00.76)

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Freshman Lucas Fendl (Ellsworth, Maine) won the 100-Fly (59.96) and 50-Fly (27.22) races and placed third in the 100-IM (1:06.60)
  • Junior Shawn Perry (Plaistow, N.H.) placed second in the 100-Fly (1:05.24) and 100-IM (1:06.25) events and third in the 50-Fly (29.02)

The Monks are off until Sunday, November 20th when they compete at Regis College in a 12:00 PM start.
