Candidates become eligible for nomination five years after receiving their bachelor's degree at Saint Joseph’s College. A person who has not received a degree may be nominated, but not until five years have elapsed since they originally would have received a degree.

Nominees may also include coaches, athletic trainers, administrators, or any other persons who have made outstanding contributions to athletics at Saint Joseph’s College and/or persons who, subsequent to their years at Saint Joseph’s, have distinguished themselves in the field of athletics.
