Peckham's Overtime Tally Lifts Monks to Victory

NASHUA, NH - Kody Peckham '11 (West Gardiner, ME) scored two goals, including the game-winner 19 seconds into overtime, to lift Saint Joseph's (1-2) to an 11-10 victory over Daniel Webster College (0-1) on Saturday afternoon. Jonathan Horgan '12 (Hingham, MA) paced the victors with three goals and five assists and goalkeeper Marco Stefano '12 (Steep Falls, ME) made 14 saves in net to record his first collegiate victory.

Peckham's score, set up by a Tokunbo Amosun (Gardiner, ME) pass, allowed the second-year Monks to escape with the victory after the Eagles had rallied with a wild six-goal fourth quarter including the game-tying score with just 16 seconds remaining in regulation.

Saint Joseph's built a 6-2 lead at the half thanks to four unanswered scores including two from Horgan and one each from Elliott LaMarre (Raymond, ME) and Dolewa, and went ahead 7-2 early in the third on Horgan's third of the game.

Abrahamson and Jordan posted back-to-back scores in the third but an Edwards tally late in the frame gave the Monks an 8-4 edge after three.

Jordan struck twice in the first 1:18 of the fourth for a two-point game (8-6). After Amosun made it 9-6, Manning and Abrahamson followed with unassisted strikes for a 9-8 game with 8:27 left.

After a Peckham unassisted tally made it 10-8 with 7:15 to go, Antonio Polson (Lanesboro, MA) closed it to 10-9 off a Field feed with 5:49 left, leading to Smith's second of the game off an Abrahamson feed setting up the fifth period.

Peckham, Paul Dolewa (Saco, ME), and Blake Edwards (Glide, OR) added two scores each for the Monks.

Brian Abrahamson (Dedham, MA) paced the Eagles offense with a game high seven points, scoring three times and setting up four others. Mike Jordan (Wakefield, MA) added a hat trick and one assist, while Andy Smith (Buffalo, NY) notched two scores including the game tying score, while Ryan Manning (Newport, NH) added one. Tom Driscoll (South Boston, MA) made 27 stops for the Eagles in his collegiate debut.

The Eagles return to action Wednesday as they visit Emerson College at 6:00 p.m. St. Joe's visits Mitchell Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
