NEW LONDON, CT - Saint Joseph's (2-2) handled
Mitchell College (0-4), 24-7, on Thursday evening in non-conference
men's lacrosse action. A pair of newcomers led the way on the
offensive front, as Paul Dolewa
'12 (Saco, ME) netted five goals and an assist and
Jonathan Horgan '12 (Hingham, MA)
produced four tallies and four helpers in the lopsided victory.
Both the goal total and the margin of victory rank as team-highs
for the second-year program.
The five goals by Dolewa and the eight-point
output from Horgan also rank as new single game
scoring records.
The Monks held a 9-5 at halftime, but went on to take control of
the game by outscoring the Mariners 9-0 in the third quarter. The
Royal Blue wrapped up the win by besting the hosts, 6-2, in the
final quarter to head north with a 24-7 win in tow.
St. Joe's outshot Mitchell 48-27, held a 20-13 edge in ground balls
and won 23 of 29 face-offs in the win.
Tokunbo Amosun '11 (Gardiner,
ME), Kody Peckham '11 (West
Gardiner, ME) and Benson
Pasquarello '12 (Kennebunk, ME) all notched hat
tricks in the win, while Elliot
LaMarre '11 (Raymond, ME) and
Blake Edwards '11 (Glide, OR)
each tallied a pair of scores for Saint Joseph's.
Ryan Prescott '09 (Pittsfield,
NH) and Luke LaFreniere '10
(Alton, NH) both added goals and goalkeepers Marco
Stefano '12 (Steep Falls, ME) and
Nick Hannon '09 (Windham, ME)
combined to make six saves in net.
For Mitchell College, Adam Grillo '12 (Waterford, CT) tallied two
goals and Ian Gosselin '10 (Uncasville, CT) dished out two assists.
Goalkeeper Gregory Jameson '12 (Newington, CT) made 11 saves.

Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday, March 28th at 1:00 PM in
Castine, ME.
