STANDISH, ME - Mount Ida College (9-6, 7-1 NAC) defeated Saint
Joseph's (3-12, 1-7), 28-10, in North Atlantic Conference men's
lacrosse action at Lakeside Field on Sunday afternoon.
Jonathan Horgan '12 (Hingham, MA)
scored three goals in the loss and is the first St. Joe's player to
reach the 50 point plateau.
Ryan Prescott '09 (Pittsfield,
NH) tallied two goals and five ground balls and
Kody Peckham '11 (West Gardiner,
ME) chipped in with two goals and an assist for St. Joe's.
Paul Dolewa '12 (Saco, ME) netted
a goal, a helper and five ground balls, and Blake
Edwards '11 (Glide, OR) and
Andrew Moravick '10 (Biddeford,
ME) each added a marker.
Nick Hannon '09 (Windham, ME)
made 11 stops in 53 minutes between the pipes and
Don Gearan '12 (Gorham, ME) made
one save in seven minutes of play in net for the Monks.
Elliot LaMarre '11 (Raymond, ME)
won 16 of 27 face off attempts and added an assist.
Matthew Savage '11 (Peabody, MA) paced the Mustangs, who featured
15 different goal scorers, with five goals and teammate Christopher
Prophete '09 (Waltham, MA) added four tallies for the visitors.
Four different players manned the net during the game and combined
to make five saves in the win.
Mount Ida outshot St. Joe's 53-35 and held a commanding 41-24
advantage in ground balls collected. The Mustangs were successful
in 17 of 18 clearing attempts, against a 2-12 effort by the Monks,
and 1-3 on man-up opportunities. St. Joe's won the bid for face
offs 21-20.
St. Joe's will play at Becker College on Tuesday at 6:00 PM. Mount
Ida will host NAC foe Emerson College on Wednesday at 3:00 PM.
