Prescott Garners ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Honors

 

STANDISH, ME - Multi-sport athlete Ryan Prescott '09 (Pittsfield, NH) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine /CoSIDA Academic All-District 1 Second Team in the Men's At-Large College Division.

To be considered for the award, a student-athlete must be a sophomore in academic standing, own a grade-point average of 3.3 and must be a starter or key reserve for their team. Recipients are selected by a vote of College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members.

Prescott , a standout athlete as a member of the cross country and men's lacrosse teams, posted a 3.91 cumulative GPA and graduated with a degree in Physical Education Teacher Certification.

In 2009, Prescott tallied 12 goals and fourteen points as a co-captain of the Monks' lacrosse squad and collected a team-high 65 ground balls, a new program single-season record.

Prescott , who also plays ice hockey for the Saint Joseph's club team during the winter months, is possibly best known athletically for his dominance on the cross country trails. He leaves the program as the owner of the SJC course record time (26.53), as well as seven of the top ten times in Head Coach Tom Dann's tenure, which spans 13 seasons.

Eligible at-large sports for men include golf, rifle, volleyball, gymnastics, skiing, water polo, fencing, ice hockey, swimming, wrestling, lacrosse and tennis. First and second teams are selected in both the University (Division I and I-AA) and College (Division II, III and NAIA) Divisions. District one encompasses all of New England and New York.
