2011 Men's Lacrosse Captains Announced

STANDISH, ME – Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Mike Edgar, now entering his fourth year as the Monks' skipper, has announced his team captains for the 2011 campaign.

Seniors Ross Hardaway (East Boston, MA) and Eliot LaMarre (Raymond, ME) and juniors Paul Dolewa (Saco, ME) and Jonathan Horgan (Hingham, MA) will serve as extensions of the Monks coaching staff during the 2011 season. Hardaway and LaMarre were also selected as team captains last season.

Hardaway played in 16 games last year and contributed with 17 ground balls, 10 caused turnovers and two goals as a junior. LaMarre, one of the premier face-off midi's in the region, shattered his own program records for face off wins (177) and face off percentage (.615) and also broke the team mark for ground balls with 91 last spring.

Dolewa enjoyed a solid sophomore season, with 29 goals, 16 assists, 62 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers in 2010. He ranked second on the squad in goals and third in both points and assists.

Horgan suffered an injury in the Monks' 2010 season-opener and missed the remainder of the season. The junior attacker, who ranked as the team's leading scorer as a freshman, is expected to return to form this spring when the Monks begin play in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference. Saint Joseph's competed in the North Atlantic Conference in 2009 and 2010 and played as an NCAA DIII Independent as a first-year program in 2008.

St. Joe's broke nearly every team record en route to posting a 10-8 mark last spring and gained entrance into the NAC Tournament for the second time in as many seasons in 2010. The Monks will kick off the 2011 campaign with a trip to the Washington D.C. area in mid-March with contests against Hood College and Frostburg State College.
