Men's Lacrosse to Host First-Ever Conference Tourney Tilt

STANDISH, ME – The Saint Joseph's College men's lacrosse team will host a conference tournament contest for the first time in program history on Tuesday night. The fourth-seeded Monks will host #5 Becker College at Deering Memorial Stadium on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.

St. Joe's (9-7, 4-3 GNAC), which participated in the North Atlantic Conference for the last two seasons, joined the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) for its inaugural season of men's lacrosse this spring. The Monks defeated Becker, 11-0, earlier this season.

Mount Ida College (7-0, 9-7) earned the first GNAC regular-season crown after going undefeated in conference play and earning a clutch victory over conference rival Lasell College in order to clinch the top ranking.

Lasell College (6-1, 8-7) earned a close second place finish with their only loss of the GNAC season coming to the Mustangs. Norwich (5-2, 7-4) earned a third place finish and St. Joe's (4-3, 9-7) took fourth place. Rounding out the final two playoff spots are #5 Becker College (3-4, 7-10) and #6 Emerson College (2-5, 2-11).

The GNAC tournament will be a six team tournament bracket with the quarterfinals beginning Tuesday, April 26th at #3 Norwich and #4 Saint Joseph's, with Mount Ida and Lasell receiving byes. The semifinals will occur on Thursday, April 28th at #1 Mount Ida and #2 Lasell. The championship game will be Saturday, April 30th at the highest remaining seed.
