The 2013 season will be Mike Edgar's sixth year as the Saint Joseph's College men's lacrosse head coach.

Saint Joseph’s played a full schedule as a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) in 2011. Coach Edgar led the Monks to a 10-8 overall record and a 4-3 mark in GNAC play, a record which qualified the Royal Blue for the #4 seed in the conference tourney. As the fourth seed, St. Joe’s hosted a tournament game for the first time in program history and went one step further with the team’s first-ever playoff victory – a 10-9 triumph over #5 Becker College – on April 26th.

Coach Edgar led the 2010 Monks to a 10-8 overall record, including a 5-4 mark in NAC play, and oversaw a Royal Blue team that broke nearly every single-season record. The 2010 squad set new program records for goals (207), assists (116), ground balls (841) and face-off percentage (.590) while posting a team-best 9.12 goals against average. For the second consecutive year, the Monks made an appearance in the NAC Tournament, this time as the #5 seed.

Under Edgar's watch in 2009, the Monks went 4-13 overall and 2-7 in North Atlantic Conference play. The second-year program improved across the board and earned an appearance in the NAC Tournament as a first-year member of the league.

In 2008, Coach Edgar guided the Monks to a 2-9 record in the team's inaugural season as a NCAA DIII varsity sport. He is set to lead the 2009 squad as a first-year member of the North Atlantic Conference, as the Monks played out the '08 campaign as an NCAA DIII Independent.

Edgar has coached in Maine at various levels for over fifteen years. He comes to Saint Joseph's College after two years as the head coach at South Portland High School, where he guided the Red Riots to the lacrosse program's first ever playoff victory in his first season. Prior to piloting the South Portland team, Coach Edgar was the head coach at Greely High School in Cumberland, ME from 1999-2005. Edgar helped rebuild interest in the program and the team's record improved each year under his watch.

Coach Edgar served as the head coach for the 2001 and 2002 Maine Team Warrior U19 travel squad and 1999 Maine Select Lacrosse U15 team. He was also the co-head coach of the 2000 Super Juniors Select Travel team.

In 1981, Edgar co-founded and played on the first team in Cape Elizabeth High School history and was voted All State in 1983 and 1984 and was team captain in 1984. In 1991, when there was not much of any high school lacrosse in the Portland area, he was one of the trailblazers to begin and coach the Back Bay Lacrosse Club.

Edgar served as the President of the Maine Chapter of U.S. Lacrosse in 2006 and 2007 and was on a panel of 24 coaches responsible for selecting the 2007 United States National U19 Boys Lacrosse team. He is currently a board member for the Maine Lacrosse Coaches Association.

Prior to 2008, the men's lacrosse program at Saint Joseph's held club status for several seasons.
