Monks Beaten by Regis, 111-75

STANDISH, ME - Regis College defeated the Saint Joseph's College Men's Swim team, 111-75, at the Harold Alfond Center Pool on Saturday afternoon. Three Monk records fell, with Kevin Towne '12 (Shrewsbury, MA) besting two of his own marks set last season, in the event.

Towne earned a pair of top finishes and a runner-up effort on the day. The sophomore won the 100-Back with a 1:00.91 performance and led the pack with a 2:28.44 effort in the 200-IM. Both times qualify as new individual records for the third-year program. Towne currently owns five individual marks for the Monks.

Andrew Marshall '13 (Kittery, ME/St. Thomas Aquinas) notched the final record-breaking time, with a 2:02.96 in the 200-Free, to win the event and also emerged victorious in the 500-Free with a 5:40.72 effort. Through three events, Marshall has toppled four program records.

Kieran O'Connell '12 (Gloucester, MA), Brian Grasser '12 (Groton, CT), Marshall and Towne combined to help the Monks close out the day on a high note, as the SJC 400-Free relay team earned a victory in the 400-Free relay with a 3:58.77 performance.

The Monks will not compete again until January 18th, 2010 when St. Joe's takes on University of New England in Biddeford, ME at 1:00 PM.
