Monks Kick Off New Year at Husson University

BANGOR, Maine – The Saint Joseph's College swim teams kicked off the second semester with a head to head meet at Husson University on Friday evening. The women fell, 151-116, while the SJC men suffered a 104-39 defeat.

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Freshman Berkley Hutchins (Springfield, Vt.) easily won the 50-Free (27.00) and 200-Breast (2:44.19) events and finished second in the 100-Back (1:07.72)
  • Junior Kiley Matthews (South Portland, Maine) won the 200-Free (2:10.52) and placed second in the 100-Free (58.63)
  • Senior Brooke Podsiadlo (Granby, Mass.) finished second in the 1000-Free (12:08.46), 200-Back (2:33.07), and 500-Free (6:03.24)
  • Junior Tiffany Twombly (Sanford, Maine) was second in the 100-Breast (1:19.01) and 200-IM (2:41.86) events and was fourth in the 100-Free (1:16.45)
  • Freshman Gracie Parker (Bar Harbor, Maine) won the 200-Fly (2:43.98) and was third in the 1000-Free (12:29.78) and 500-Free (6:10.06)
  • Sophomore Emma Westgate (Sanford, Maine) was second in the 200-Fly (3:32.17) and fifth in the 100-Fly (1:39.51)
  • Freshman Bri Letourneau (Lewiston, Maine) finished second in the 100-Fly (1:13.50) and was third in the 200-Free (2:19.55) and 100-Free (1:03.24)
  • Sophomore Elise Soucy (Saco, Maine) placed third in the 200-Back (2:34.52) and 200-IM (2:42.93) races and was fourth in the 100-Back (1:13.15)
  • Senior Ashley Thompson (Granby, Conn.) finished third in the 200-Breast (3:19.44) and sixth in the 200-IM (3:16.18)
  • Soucy, Hutchins, Letourneau, and Matthews won the 200-Medley relay with a 2:02.93 performance
  • Matthews, Parker, Podsiadlo, and Twombly placed second in the 400-Free relay (4:07.40)

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Sophomore Lucas Fendl won the 200-Fly (2:15.62) and 100-Fly (58.94) events and posted a 2:27.67 time in the 200-IM
  • Junior Zachery Creekmore finished second in the 100-Breast (1:17.20) and 200-Breast (2:53.87) races and notched a 2:53.98 effort in the 200-IM
