Women Defeat Gordon College, 106-85

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College defeated Gordon College, 106-85, in a head-to-head women's swim meet at the Harold Alfond Pool on Monday evening. The SJC men also competed but did not score.

THE RUNDOWN - WOMEN:

  • Freshman Berkley Hutchins (Springfield, Vt.) won the 200-Free (2:14.67), 50-Back (31.50), and 50-Breast (33.66)
  • Senior Brooke Podsiadlo (Granby, Mass.) won the 100-Free (1:00.75) and placed second in the 1650-Free (20:30.31)
  • Freshman Gracie Parker (Bar Harbor, Maine) won the 500-Free with a 6:07.77 time and was third in the 1650-Free (21:12.54)
  • Junior Tiffany Twombly (Sanford, Maine) placed second in the 50-Back (33.39)
  • Junior Kiley Matthews (South Portland, Maine) topped the 50-Free field with a 26.68 time
  • Freshman Bri Letourneau (Lewiston, Maine) finished second in the 50-Fly (31.65) and third in the 400-IM (5:52.38)
  • Sophomore Elise Soucy (Saco, Maine) finished third in the 200-Free (2:26.95) and 50-Back (33.80)
  • Sophomore Emma Westgate (Sanford, Maine) was fourth in the 50-Fly (44.39) and fifth in the 200-Free (2:48.27) and 500-Free (7:34.36) events
  • Senior Ashley Thompson (Granby, Conn.) was fifth in the 400-IM (6:43.38) and 50-Breast (42.46)
  • Soucy, Twombly, Letourneau, and Matthews won the 200-Medley relay with a 2:06.77 performance
  • Matthews, Twombly, Parker, and Podsiadlo won the 200-Free relay with a 1:53.75 effort

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Sophomore Lucas Fendl (Ellsworth, Maine) won the 100-Free (56.76) and 50-Breast (32.24) events and placed second in the 50-Free (24.69)
  • Junior Zachery Creekmore (New Fairfield, Conn.) was third in the 50-Free (28.61) and 50-Fly (35.16) and fourth in the 50-Breast (36.10)
