UNE Defeats St. Joe's, 110-56

BIDDEFORD, ME - The SJC men's swim team fell to University of New England, 110-56, on Wednesday evening. Kevin Towne '12 (Shrewsbury, MA) notched a pair of top finishes and Andrew Marshall '13 (Kittery, ME/St. Thomas Aquinas) broke two team records in the competition.

Towne won the 50-Back (28.53) and 200-Back (2:18.47) events and Marshall topped his own records in with a first-place finish in the 500-Free (5:30.20) and a runner-up effort in the 100-Free (56.29). The freshman shaved nearly six seconds off his 500-Free time and owns eight individual program records.

Eric Jaukkuri '13 (Quincy, MA) placed second in the 50-Breast (41.25) and Brian Grasser '12 (Groton, CT) was third in the 200-Free (2:25.67) competition. Towne also notched a third-place time in the 50-Free (25.98).

Grasser, Jaukkuri, Marshall and Towne swam legs for the runner-up 200-Free relay team, which posted a 1:46.00 time.

The men are off until the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships, which will be held February 19-22 at the Upper Valley Aquatics Center in White River Junction, VT.
