2015-16 Swimming Schedule Preview

STANDISH, Maine – The 2015-16 Saint Joseph's College men's and women's swimming schedules have been released. Led by first-year Head Coach Margaret Howe, the Monks will compete in 11 events this winter, a docket that includes three home meets.

The 2015-16 campaign kicks off on Saturday, October 31st when the Monks travel to Bangor to face off against Husson University. St. Joe's competes at Elms College (11/7) and Regis College (11/14) before hosting the program's first home event – a meet with Husson and Merrimack on Saturday, November 21st.

Saint Joseph's closes the 2015 calendar year with an appearance in the 2015 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship on December 5th and 6th at Simmons College.

The New Year commences with a pair of home events, as the Monks host Simmons (women only) on Sunday, January 10th and University of New England on Monday, January 18th. Prior to the start of the meet versus UNE, Saint Joseph's will honor the program's five seniors - Alexander Gilvey (Windham, Maine), Andrew Merlino (Natick, Mass.), Annie Fougere (Warner, N.H.), Brooke Huberdeau (North Andover, Mass.) and Allie Krasco (Melrose, Mass.) - with a brief Senior Day ceremony.

With the home slate complete, the Monks hit the road for the remainder of the season with events at Husson (1/23) and Gordon College (1/30). St. Joe's competes in The Maine Event at Bowdoin on February 6th.

The 2015-16 campaign comes to a close the following weekend at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships. The three-day event, hosted by University of Rhode Island, begins on Friday, February 12th and concludes two days later.

Last winter, Saint Joseph's placed fourth in the GNAC Championship and 10th at NEISDA's under the guidance of former Head Coach Rick Hayes, who left the program last summer after seven seasons at the helm. The women finished third at the GNAC event and placed 15th at the NEISDA Championship last season.
