GNAC Swimming Championship Preliminary Results Available

BOSTON, Mass. – The Saint Joseph's College swim teams opened the 2015 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Swimming Championships at Simmons College with a preliminary round on Saturday morning.

Junior Ben Johnson (Belmont, Mass.) highlighted the opening session for the Monks by breaking a pair of team records with a runner-up finish in the 200-IM (2:09.89) and a third-place effort in the 50-Fly (25:30).

Overall, the Saint Joseph's men and women combined to post times worthy of advancement into the finals in 20 events; 14 by the women and six by the men. The finals begin at the Holmes Sports Center Natatorium at 6:00 PM.

Day One Preliminaries: (RESULTS)

WOMEN:

  • Senior Brooke Huberdeau (North Andover, Mass.) placed third in the 500-Free (5:53.32), 11th in the 50-Free (29.12)
  • Senior Annie Fougere (Warner, N.H.) finished 12th in the 50-Free (29.50)
  • Junior Lauren Halvorsen (South Portland, Maine) was sixth in the 500-Free (6:02.00), 12th in the 200-Free (2:20.96)
  • Junior Lauren Prue (Glenburn, Maine) finished sixth in the 200-IM (2:32.14), seventh in the 100-Fly (1:11.61) and eighth in the 100-Breast (1:18.72)
  • Senior Allie Krasco (Melrose, Mass.) was third in the 200-Back (2:30.84) and seventh in the 50-Fly (33.32)
  • Freshman Julia Rowlett (Saco, Maine) placed fourth in the 200-Back (2:30.99) and sixth in the 100-Fly (1:11.22)
  • Sophomore Leia Berube (Brewer, Maine) was eighth in the 200-Back (2:45.55) and 11th in the 200-IM (2:49.24)
  • Junior Brittany Dalphonse (Coventry, R.I.) placed 18th in the 100-Breast (1:33.73) and 26th in the 50-Free (33.59)
MEN:
  • Junior Ben Johnson (Belmont, Mass.) was the runner-up in the 200-IM (2:09.89) and finished third in the 50-Fly (25:30)
  • Senior Alexander Gilvey (Windham, Maine) finished third in the 200-IM (2:14.46) and 200-Back (2:15.28) events
  • Senior Andrew Merlino (Natick, Mass.) was fifth in the 500-Free (5:32.09) and 50-Fly (25.64) events
