Men 12th, Women 17th After First Full Day of 2020 NEISDA Championships

KINGSTON, R.I. – Saint Joseph's College finished the first full day of the 2020 New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships on Friday with the SJC men in 12th place (14 points) and the Monks' women in 17th (78 points).

The Monks competed in a total of three finals events on Friday, as senior captain Emily Roy (Sidney, Maine) finished 16th with a 2:24.84 time in the 200-Back and the SJC men's and women's 400-Medley relay teams placed 10th (4:15.26) and 14th (4:33.99), respectively.

Roy, Autumn Nostrom (Lyman, Maine), Madison Mills, and Alirose Beauregard (Dover, N.H.) comprised the women's 400-Medley relay squad while Joseph Nichols (Tyngsborough, Mass.), Anthony Blatus (Dracut, Mass.), Evan Whaley (Merrimack, N.H.), and Ryan Watson (Bangor, Maine) swam legs for the men's team.

Roger Williams University sits atop the standings for both sides after the first full day of competition. With 589 points through 16 events, the Hawks' women lead Simmons University (472) by over 100 points while Keene State College (376) is in third. RWU holds a commanding lead in the men's standings with 367 points, nearly double the tally posted by the current runner-up, Norwich University (184). Keene State is also third on the men's docket with 162 points.

Competition resumes with preliminaries tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM with the day three finals kicking off at 6:00 PM.
