Bouchard Named MCBSA Co-Player of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The final Maine College Baseball & Softball Association (MCBSA) weekly accolades of the 2024 campaign have been released and Saint Joseph's College sophomore catcher Chantelle Bouchard (Biddeford, Maine) has been selected as the MCBSA Co-Player of the Week.

Bouchard earns the honor after helping lead the Monks to a GNAC Championship appearance by hitting .583 (7-12) with two runs, a double, a home run, and eight RBI in three GNAC Tournament Pod A contests over the weekend. The sophomore catcher hit a go-ahead grand slam home run in the Pod finale on Sunday and posted a .917 slugging percentage during the tourney.

In 36 games this spring, Bouchard is hitting .412 (49-119) with 30 runs, 14 doubles, 11 home runs, 45 RBI and three stolen bases. With the grand slam on Sunday, the second-year standout tied the SJC single-season home runs record, which was previously reached by Liddy van der Linden '10 in 2010 and Emily Leverone '12 in 2011.

Bouchard shares the MCBSA weekly award with Husson University senior Kenzie Dore (Holden, Maine), who was 11-for-21 with seven runs scored, four doubles, two home runs, one walk and 12 RBIs in eight victories.

Saint Joseph's, the top seed in the North Division will host the 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship Series on Friday and Saturday. The Monks will face #3N Simmons University at 4:00 PM on Friday and 2:00 PM on Saturday – with an 'if necessary' game to follow – in the best-of-three series.
