PORTLAND, ME - The Saint Joseph's (1-0) women's
lacrosse team earned an 18-10 opening-night victory over Becker
College (1-2) on Wednesday evening. Lauren
Hagerman '10 (Scarborough, ME) started off her
junior campaign with a career-high five goal performance and added
three assists in the win.
St. Joe's opened the game by scoring five straight goals before
Becker College answered with a tally from Nicole Lijana ‘12
(Moorestown, NJ), who found the back of the net five times for the
Hawks in defeat.
The Lady Monks led 14-4 at halftime and 18-6 after
Vanessa Brooks ‘10 (Bath,
ME) scored her third goal of the game with 12:21 remaining. The
Hawks answered by scoring four unanswered goals to close out the
game to account for the 18-10 final.
Lizzie Farley ‘11
(Scarborough, ME) notched three goals and two assists and Brooks
and Amelia Santos ‘12
(Beverly, MA), in her first collegiate action, both chipped in with
hat-trick efforts. Alyssa

(Otisfield, ME) added two goals and an assist apiece and goalkeeper
Taylor Allison ‘12
(Pawtucket, RI) made 12 saves in net for the Lady Monks. Hagerman
added six draw controls and four groundballs, both game-highs, in
the triumph.
Morgan Hazen ‘12 (Woodstock, VT) tallied a pair of goals for
Becker, while Tammy Mullen ‘11 (Pottstown, PA), Kristina
Leeman ‘09 (Georgetown, MA) and Renee Landry ‘10
(Acton, ME) netted a goal each in the losing effort. Hawks
goalkeeper Alena Phongsa ‘11 (Putnam, CT) made 12 saves
between the pipes.
Saint Joseph's will host non-conference opponent Thomas College on
Wednesday, March 25 at Deering Memorial Field in Portland, ME.
Opening faceoff is scheduled for 6:15 PM.
