WESTON, Mass. – Senior Carson Battaglia (Gorham, Maine) scored five goals to help lead Saint Joseph's College (11-3, 7-1 GNAC) past Regis College (8-6, 4-5 GNAC), 12-8, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's lacrosse action on Tuesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The GNAC rivals stood at a 1-1 tie after freshman Taylor Dumond (Minisink, N.Y.) and Regis's Aubrey Mason hit pay dirt in the first three minutes of the game, but the Monks took control with four unanswered tallies from four different players to secure a 5-1 advantage after one quarter.

The Pride managed to net five of the game's subsequent seven goals and trailed by a 7-6 margin after Mason potted her fourth strike of the evening with 9:31 left in the third quarter. The Monks essentially put the game away by closing out the penultimate period with three straight tallies, the final being a Battaglia goal that gave the visitors a 10-6 advantage with 50 seconds left in the third.

Regis mounted one last gasp in the fourth as Molly Higgins scored twice for the hosts in the first six minutes of the frame, but Battaglia closed out the scoring ledger with two goals in a 70-second window to all but clinch the victory.
