Messuri, Diplock & Lafrance Earn All-Conference Honors

STANDISH, ME – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) postseason honors have been released and three Saint Joseph's College players have been honored.

Senior defender Rachelle Messuri (Atkinson, N.H.) has earned GNAC Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference honors, senior midfielder Cassie Diplock (Augusta, Maine) has collected First Team All-GNAC accolades and sophomore defender Emma Lafrance (Westport, Mass.) is listed on the Second Team.

Messuri, the first player in program history to take Defensive Player of the Year acclaim, led the conference in ground balls (81) and finished the year ranked second in the GNAC with 37 caused turnovers. She capped her career as the Monks' all-time leader in ground balls (230) and caused turnovers (87) and tallied nine goals, three assists and 23 draw controls in 62 games over four seasons.

Diplock, a two-time Second Team All-GNAC selection, claims First Team honors for the first time after leading the conference in goals (71) shots (184), shots on goal (146) and free-position goals (15) – and broke the Monks' single-season records in all four categories - as a senior. She became the second player in program history to reach the 200-goal plateau during the season and shattered SJC career records for goals (210), points (237), shots (489), shots on goal (384) and free-position markers (35) and ranks second all-time in ground balls (188).

Lafrance earns All-GNAC accolades for the first time after tallying 65 ground balls and 27 caused turnovers as a sophomore. In two collegiate seasons, she has accumulated 121 and 51 caused turnovers in 37 career contests.

Saint Joseph's posted a 12-8 record, including an 8-2 mark versus GNAC opponents, in 2014 and advanced all the way to the conference championship for the first time in the seven-year history of the program. The second-seeded Monks fell to #1 Emmanuel College, 17-7, in the GNAC Championship on Saturday, April 26th.
