STANDISH, Maine – The first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) spring honors have been released and Saint Joseph's College sophomore Elyse Caiazzo (Scarborough, Maine/Cheverus) has been selected as the GNAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week.

Caiazzo, the 2015 GNAC Rookie of the Year, picked up where she left off last spring and started her sophomore year with eight goals, two assists, 13 ground balls, seven caused turnovers, and three draw controls in a 1-1 opening week. The second-year standout netted three goals with four ground balls in an overtime loss to UNE on Sunday and tallied five goals, two assists, nine ground balls, seven caused turnovers, and two draw controls in a victory over Husson on Saturday.

As a freshman, Caiazzo helped lead the Monks to the program's first GNAC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance with an SJC single-season record 89 points (70 goals, 19 assists) along with 64 ground balls, 38 draw controls, and 16 caused turnovers in 19 games.

For Caiazzo, a four-time GNAC Rookie of the Week honoree, the Player of the Week award is a career-first.

Saint Joseph's (1-1) will host UMass.-Dartmouth at Deering Memorial Stadium on Saturday at 4:00 PM.
