11/4/06 - Poultney, VT - In the
second of the two women's soccer semi-final matches played at Eagle
Pavilion on the Green Mountain College campus, the GMC Eagles (#2
Seed) hosted the Monks (#3 Seed) from Saint Joseph's College in
Maine.
Play was brisk and there was little doubt about the play-off
fervor. Saint Joe's dictated tempo for the majority of the match
edging the Eagles in shots 18-5. However, it was the Eagles' day as
senior Andrea Pollack finished a seemingly harmless diagonal
through ball to the weak side from fellow senior Lindsay Swinger to
earn a 1-0 victory.
The rest was pure defense for the Eagles as they denied every
opportunity that St. Joe's could muster. Claire Davis finished with
11 saves and Northrop finished with 1.
