STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College blanked Anna Maria College, 3-0, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer contest held at the SJC Athletics Complex on Tuesday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Monks utilized some long-distance passing to score three first-half goals. Sophomore Eliese Perron (South Portland, Maine) opened the scoring when she ran onto a lead pass from classmate Lelia Weir (Bar Harbor, Maine) and chipped a shot past Anna Maria keeper Madi Mulligan (Grafton, Mass.) from near the 18 at the 20:53 mark. Senior Tatum Hancock (Damariscotta, Maine) made it a 2-0 game when she broke free from the defense and belted a shot to the top left corner from the top of the box 13 minutes later.
Freshman Jordan Huntley (Stafford Springs, Conn.) capped the scoring with her first NCAA tally at the 42:11 mark when she raced past a defender to corral a Claudia Janelle (Biddeford, Maine) lead pass and slipped a shot between Mulligan and the near post.
