Saint Joseph’s Skates Past Anna Maria, 9-0

PAXTON, Mass. – Saint Joseph's College (3-3-0, 1-2-0 GNAC) toppled Anna Maria College (0-4-0, 0-3-0 GNAC), 9-0, in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Six different players scored for the Monks, as Kendall Dolan (Kennebunk, Maine), Haley DaGraca (Saco, Maine), and Emily DeLuca (Gorham, Maine) netted two goals apiece and Emily Thornton (Westbrook, Maine), Lillian Bisset (Jefferson, Maine), and Sophie Silva (Portland, Maine/Deering) chipped in with tallies in the lopsided triumph.

Dolan struck first with an unassisted tally 2:49 into the game and DaGraca hit pay dirt at the 19:09 mark off a Lauren Stiles (Gorham, Maine) pass as the Monks held a 2-0 cushion heading into intermission. St. Joe's proceeded to put the game out of reach in the second stanza, scoring four goals in a matter of 10 minutes en route to securing a 6-0 lead with 30 minutes remaining.

THE KEEPERS:

Saint Joseph's senior Brooke Troup (East Bridgewater, Mass.) made one save in 63:59 minutes while freshman Madi Day (Hiram, Maine) was untested in 26:01 minutes of mop-up duty.

Anna Maria goalie Gabriella Eldredge (West Boylston, Mass.) registered 16 saves in a losing effort.

TEAM STATS:

Saint Joseph's maintained sizeable advantages in shots (39-1), shots on goal (25-1), and corner kicks (10-1) in the victory.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

With the result, Saint Joseph's remains undefeated (7-0) in the history of the series with Anna Maria College and has outscored the AMCATS by a collective 42-0 score over the seven meetings.

NEXT!

Saint Joseph's will host University of Southern Maine on Monday in a 6:00 PM start. Prior to the start of the non-conference game, a brief ceremony will be held to commemorate the completion of the Monks' new turf/track complex.
