Saint Joseph's Suffers First Loss of Season

FORT MYERS , FL - Saint Joseph's College (3-1) recorded its first loss of the season in a 9-1 loss to Anna Maria College (4-2). Anna Maria jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning after singles by Jane Staley, Kd Mungovan, Tina Oliveri and a double by Jen DeCambra.

Senior Kahler Dowling (Augusta, ME) managed a single in the first inning but would be the only St. Joe's player to get on base in the first two innings.

Amy Makynen doubled and scored for Anna Maria after a sacrifice by Staley and a single by Suzie Yanovitch in the second inning.

In the third, sophomore Jamie Daugherty (Bass Harbor, ME) singled and scored after a single by senior Allyson Ferguson (Sabattus, ME) to make it 4-1. Anna Maria was held scoreless in the inning.

Four singles and a St. Joe's error gave Anna Maria 5 more runs in the fourth inning. The Lady Monks were down 9-1 and were unable to rally in the fifth inning and the game ended due to the 8 run rule.
