SJC Softball Splits on St. Patrick's Day

Fort Myers, FL - Well, the "luck o' the Irish" was with Saint Joseph's for a while today as the Lady Monks split on the day, defeating Eastern Nazarene College 8-0, with sophomore Gavi Burrola (2-3) pitching that no-hitter for St. Joe's (play-by-play).

Game Two saw St. Joe's facing the same Ohio Wesleyan team they had faced on their first day of play in sunny Florida and the result today was the same. A seventh-inning rally just wasn't enough and the ladies dropped a tough one, 7-11. Senior Colleen Delahanty (1-4) took the loss for SJC.

The team returns to Maine tomorrow with a record of 3-7, but the week has been one of finding chemistry, and has highlighted not only a few weaknesses, but the team's many strengths, so Coach Smyth is focusing in on those areas that can be improved and aiming to keep the strengths in the spotlight. Look for this team of bright, enthusiastic young women to make their mark!
