STANDISH, ME - The St. Joe's softball team swept a conference doubleheader with the Johnson and Wales Wildcats on Sunday, 8-0 and 14-1. The Lady Monks received superb pitching from both FY Kiera Walsh (Benton, ME) and SO Christy Wezowicz (Granville, MA) as the pair of starters combined for 11 innings and allowed just 6 hits and no earned runs in the two game set. The SJC offense exploded for 35 hits in the sweep as SR Megan Farrell (Abington, MA) and SO Liddy van der Linden (Worcester, MA) each tallied 5 hits in the twinbill. St. Joe's improves to 12-8 overall and 7-3 in GNAC play.

ONE
St. Joe's scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the
second inning when FY Cat
DeSimone (Waterboro, ME) singled home SO
Liddy van der
Linden (Worcester, MA), who led off the inning
with a base knock.
The Lady Monks increased their lead to 5-0 when they added four
runs in the bottom of the fifth off of 5 SJC hits. JR

Renee Leach (Shapleigh, ME), JR
Alysn Ludwig (Waldoboro, ME) and
SO Jillian Kimball (Albany TWP,
ME) accounted for the runs. Leach and
Kimball provided RBI singles and
Megan Farrell had a run-scoring
double in the inning.
St. Joe's enacted the 8-run rule when the team added 3 runs and
connected for 4 hits in the bottom of the 6th.
Ludwig, Jordan and SO
Anna Willis (Gorham, ME) scored
the runs and Kimball collected 2 RBI's with a
single. Liddy van der Linden also singled home a
run in the inning.
SJC starting pitcher Kiera Walsh
was on cruise control on the hill and scattered 5 hits while
allowing no runs and no walks while striking out 4 to improve her
season record to 8-3.
For St. Joe's, Alysn Ludwig was
3-3 with 2 runs, Jillian Kimball
2-4 with a run and 3 RBI's and Liddy van
der Linden was 2-4 with a run and an RBI. SO
Kayla Soucy was 2-2 and
Liz Jordan recorded 2 stolen
bases and scored 2 runs.

The St. Joe's offense exploded for 10 runs and 12 hits in the
bottom of the first inning to take control of the nightcap game
with the Wildcats. Liz Jordan,
Jillian Kimball,
Liddy van der Linden and
Megan Farrell each had 2 hits in
the inning. Farrell notched a 2-RBI double and
Anna Willis knocked home two runs
with a triple in the SJC double-digit inning.
The Lady Monks added 3 more runs with five hits in the bottom of
the second inning. Renee Leach
connected for an RBI double that scored FY Jillian
McInnis (Peabody, MA) and later scored on an FY
Alyssa Dunn (Standish, ME)
single. The teams exchanged runs in the third inning to make the
final score 14-1, St. Joe's.
Lady Monks' starting pitcher Christy
Wezowicz threw 5 innings and allowed only one JWU
hit and no earned runs while striking out 4 to improve her season
record to 4-4.
