Two St. Joe’s Players Garner Regional Honors

STANDISH, ME - St. Joe's junior outfielder Alysn Ludwig (Waldoboro, ME/Medomak HS) and sophomore second baseman Jillian Kimball (Albany TWP/Telstar HS) have been named to the 2008 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III New England Second Team.

Ludwig, an NEISCA Division III New England All-Star Honorable Mention and 2008 Great Northeast Athletic Conference First Team honoree, led the Lady Monks with 47 runs, 27 stolen bases and 59 hits during the season and was third on the team with a .381 (59-155) batting average. Her 47 runs led the GNAC and ranks as the third-highest total in St. Joe's softball history. Ludwig's single season swipe count ranked second in the GNAC and second in SJC history and her career total of 49 steals is just eight shy of the St. Joe's all-time mark of 57 held by Kelli Glantz (1996-97). Ludwig was caught stealing just one time during the season.

Kimball, who also garnered 2008 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Second Team and Sportsmanship Team honors, led the Royal Blue with a .392 (51-130) batting average. She also paced the team with 11 doubles and 46 RBI's, the second-highest single season total in SJC softball history. Kimball also led the Lady Monks in slugging percentage (.515), on-base percentage (.461) and walks (20).

St. Joe's capped the 2008 season with a 26-17 record, the fifth-highest win total in program history and the most victories in six seasons as an NCAA member. The Lady Monks posted a 19-7 record in GNAC play, good for a third-place finish.
