STANDISH, ME - The St. Joe's softball team swept a conference doubleheader with Norwich University on Sunday in two mercy-rule shortened contests, 17-9 and 11-3. St. Joe's rattled off 38 hits and SO Anna Willis (Gorham, ME) had 7 hits and scored 7 runs in the two games and SO Jillian Kimball (Albany TWP, ME) tallied 6 hits and 7 RBI's in the sweep.
GAME
ONE
The Lady Monks scored runs in every inning of the game and surged
for six runs off of eight hits in the bottom of the fifth to
enforce the mercy rule. JR Alysn
Ludwig ( Waldoboro, ME) hit a bases-loaded triple
to notch 3 RBI's in the big inning.
Starting pitcher FY Kiera Walsh
(Benton, ME) scattered 5 hits and struck out six batters in five
innings to earn the win. Anna

FY Ellen Neff (Chester, VT) had
two hits apiece in the victory. Kimball and
Ludwig both drove in 3 runs.
Norwich starting pitcher Mackenzie Pratt (Hyde Park, VT) was hit
with the loss and Jazmin Stevens (Colebrook, NH) and Marley Balasco
(Barrington, RI) each went 2-3 in the opener.

TWO
FY Renee Leach (Shapleigh, ME)
and Megan Farrell both had RBI
singles and Jillian Kimball
notched an RBI double in the first inning of game two to give St.
Joe's an early 3-0 lead.
The Cadets retaliated with 4 hits and 4 runs in the top of the
second to take a 4-3 lead.
The 4-3 advantage was short-lived for Norwich, as the Royal Blue
countered with four runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth
to regain the lead, 7-4. Alyssa
Dunn sent home two runs with a single and
Megan Farrell uncorked a triple
to knock home the other two runs in the inning.
After Norwich tacked on a run in the top of the third, St. Joe's
fired back with a six-spot, highlighted by a two-RBI double from
Megan Farrell, to give the Royal
Blue a 13-5 advantage.
The Cadets refused to go down without a fight and scored four runs
in the fourth to lessen the SJC lead to 13-9. Christine Carroll
(Westport, MA) recorded a two-RBI double in the NU rally
effort.
Kiera Walsh came into the game in
relief and cooled off the Cadets' bats and the Lady Monks went on
to add two runs in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the
bottom of the sixth off a Jillian
Kimball double to provide the eight-run advantage
and complete the game.
Alysn Ludwig and
Anna Willis both went 4-5 and
Willis scored five runs in the game.
Jillian Kimball and
Megan Farrell each recorded four
hits and five RBI's in the win and SO Liddy
van der Linden (Worcester, MA) was 3-3 with 3
runs.
Starting pitcher SO Christy
Wezowicz (Granville, MA) gets the winning decision
on the mound for the Lady Monks.
For the Cadets, Codi Collins (Waterbury, VT) and Lindsay Carey
(Colchester, VT) both went 3-4 and starting pitcher Emily Bean
(Northfield, VT) takes the loss on the hill.
