Dunn Named ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District

STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's College softball standout Alyssa Dunn '11 (Standish, ME/Bonny Eagle) has been named to the ESPN the Magazine's Academic All-District team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Dunn, a District 1 third-team selection, has posted an impressive 3.89 grade-point average as a Pre-Med Major at Saint Joseph's. Also an excellent field hockey player, Dunn was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Academic Team on March 16th for posting a GPA higher than 3.30 during the fall semester. The NFHCA honor was her second in as many years at St. Joe's.

As one of the elite dual-sport athletes at Saint Joseph's, Dunn has been recognized with all-conference accolades both in field hockey and softball as a sophomore. She tallied three goals and eight assists for the 15-6 field hockey team in the fall to collect NAC Second Team mention and was voted to the GNAC All-Conference Third Team this spring for the 29-14 Lady Monks softball program. Dunn hit .391 (45-115) with 18 runs, 14 doubles and 28 RBI as the team's starting first baseman.

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSida) selects Academic All America teams in 12 programs: football, women's volleyball, men's soccer, women's soccer, men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball, softball, men's track & field/cross country, women's track & field/cross country, men's at large and women's at large. A first team, second team and third team are selected in both the University (Division I and I-AA) and College (Division II, III and NAIA) Divisions.
