STANDISH, ME - The Great Northeast Athletic
Conference has announced its weekly awards and Saint Joseph's
freshman pitcher Madylan Kluna
(Standish, ME/Bonny Eagle) has been named the Softball Pitcher of
the Week.
Kluna was 2-0 with 14 K's in 15 innings for St. Joe's last week.
The freshman earned the extra-inning victory over Rivier 4/4 with
six strikeouts and five hits allowed in eight innings and tossed a
shutout against JWU, fanning eight and allowing three hits in seven
innings, on April 5th.
Through 20 games, Kluna has made nine appearances and posted a 2.43
ERA with 32 strikeouts in 46 innings. After starting her rookie
season off 0-4 with a 4.53 earned run average, Kluna has picked up
the win in each of her last four starts to improve to 4-4 and saw
her ERA drop to 2.43. The freshman hurler has notched a 1.21 ERA
with 24 strikeouts in her last 29 innings in the circle.
St. Joe's (14-6, 8-2 GNAC) will host Southern Maine in a 3:30 PM
doubleheader on Tuesday and will travel to Saint Joseph (CT) for a
conference twin bill, beginning at 3:00 PM, on Wednesday.
