STANDISH, ME - The Eastern College Athletic
Conference has announced its 2009 Spring All-Stars, and Saint
Joseph's College softball third baseman Emily
Leverone '11 (Hampton, NH/Winnacunnet) has been
voted by New England coaches to the Second Team.
Leverone, a first year player as a sophomore, essentially rewrote
the Lady Monks' single-season record book in 2009. The slugger set
new program records for batting average (.547), slugging percentage
(.920), on-base percentage (.581), hits (75), home runs (8) and
doubles (17) and led the GNAC in batting, on-base %, hits, RBI
(50), doubles and total bases (126).
A GNAC First-Team All-Conference choice and three-time conference
player of the week selection, Leverone also garnered National
Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Northeast Second Team honors
following her impressive season.
Saint Joseph's went 18-6 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference
play and earned the second seed in the league playoffs. The Lady
Monks advanced to the championship, but fell to top-seeded Emerson
College. Following the tourney loss, St. Joe's earned a berth to
the ECAC Championship Tournament for the second straight season.
