STANDISH, ME - The 2011 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Softball Tournament pairings have been announced and Saint Joseph's College (31-7, 21-3) has earned the #2 seed for the third consecutive season.
As the #2 seed St. Joe's will host a pair of quarterfinal contests at Richard W. Bailey Field on Friday. Bailey Field wll serve as a neutral site for #7 Lasell (11-27, 11-13 GNAC)/#6 Johnson & Wales (18-21, 12-12 GNAC) winner vs. #3 Simmons (23-13, 19-5 GNAC) at 2:00 PM. The Monks will face the winner of that game at 4:00 PM.
Emerson College (26-10, 22-2 GNAC) is the #1 seed and the Lions will host a leg of the quarterfinals on Friday as well. The #8 Pine Manor (10-21, 10-14 GNAC)/#5 Rivier (22-12, 14-10 GNAC) winner vs. #4 St. Joseph (CT) (20-16, 16-8 GNAC) game will take place early in the day and Emerson will face the winner of that contest immediately following the result.
The GNAC tournament will be an eight team tournament bracket with the First Round beginning Wednesday, April 27th at #5 Rivier and #6 Johnson & Wales, with Emerson, Saint Joseph's, Simmons and St. Joseph's CT receiving byes.
