Leverone & Kluna Claim Honor Roll Accolades

STANDISH, ME – SJC softball senior standouts Emily Leverone (Hampton, N.H.) and Maddie Kluna (Standish, Maine) have earned GNAC Weekly Honor Roll mention.

Leverone hit a scorching .529 (9-17) with an outstanding 1.294 slugging percentage in a 6-0 week for Saint Joseph's. She scored 10 runs with four doubles and three home runs and seven RBI on the week and became the GNAC all-time hits leader with her third hit of a 3-3 performance in a win over Emmanuel College on Thursday. She belted a pair of solo home runs in a 3-0 win over Johnson & Wales on Saturday, the third multi-homer effort of her career.

The three-time First Team All-GNAC selection is currently hitting .420 (34-81) with 30 runs, 13 doubles, six home runs and 26 RBI and sports an .802 slugging percentage and a .461 OBP through 26 contests.

Kluna tossed 12 shutout innings with 18 strikeouts and just five hits allowed in two starts last week. The senior hurler tossed a five-inning one-hitter with 10 K's in a victory over Emmanuel College on Thursday and fanned eight in a 3-0 triumph over Johnson & Wales on Saturday.

So far this season Kluna is 7-3 with a 2.26 ERA in 10 starts in the circle. She has fanned 58 batters while allowing 50 hits and 13 walks in 62 innings and has yielded a .216 (50-232) opponent's batting average this season.

Saint Joseph's (22-4, 15-1 GNAC) plays at Rivier College this afternoon in a conference twinbill scheduled to begin at 3:30 PM.
