Gleason Named GNAC Rookie of the Week

STANDISH, ME – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been released and Saint Joseph's College freshman shortstop Danica Gleason (South Portland, Maine) has been named as the GNAC Softball Rookie of the Week.

Gleason played a large role in helping the Monks win five of their six conference contests last week, hitting .500 (9-18) with four runs, a double, two triples and five RBI overall.

The rookie shortstop continues to impress in every facet of the game. Gleason leads the Monks in batting (.460, 46-100), hits (46), multiple-hit games (16) and OBP (.482), is tied for the team lead with six triples, and ranks second on the squad in total bases (67) and slugging (.670). For Gleason, a two-sport athlete who also plays basketball at Saint Joseph's, the weekly accolade is the first of her young career.

Saint Joseph's (30-4, 20-2 GNAC) has secured the top seed in the GNAC Tournament and will serve as the host for the tourney, beginning with a pair of games on Friday. The Monks kick off postseason play facing either #5 Suffolk University or #4 University of Saint Joseph (CT) at 4:00 PM on Friday.
